Sharjah24: Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) provided more than 661.9 million gallons of water during the first quarter of 2025 to support Mleiha Wheat and Dairy Farms. This included 626,625,320 gallons for the wheat farm to ensure a sustainable water supply for production, and 35,277,440 gallons for the Mleiha Dairy Farm, in a step aimed at enhancing food security.

Sustainable Solutions Commitment

Engineer Abdulrahman Boukhalaf, Director of the Water and Desalination Stations Department at SEWA, reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to implementing innovative and sustainable solutions, utilising the latest technologies and best practices in water management. He emphasised that this approach supports a thriving and sustainable agricultural sector by ensuring the availability of essential resources for ongoing high-quality food production. Providing water, he noted, goes beyond logistics—it represents a strategic investment in the future of food security and the long-term well-being of the community.

Vital Agricultural Role

He stressed that the wheat and dairy farms are vital components of the local food supply chain. Wheat is a key ingredient in many food products, while dairy farms provide essential milk and dairy products.

Environmental Support Initiative

He also mentioned that SEWA provided over 12,771,880 gallons of water to Sharjah Safari, a distinctive project that embodies the wise vision and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. This initiative highlights Sharjah’s dedication to environmental preservation and wildlife, delivering a unique experience in the emirate.
