Sharjah 24: Al Nahwa Old Hamlet is the latest project of the Sharjah government aimed at highlighting and consolidating heritage, and enhancing tourist demand for one of the most prominent tourist areas in the Emirate.
Within the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah government is overseeing the promotion of the heritage and tourism aspect in Al Nahwa area of the city of Khorfakkan.
In this context, facilities has been completed within the framework of an integrated project that includes the archaeological and tourism aspects, and is concerned with consolidating heritage, and building on its tourism attraction.
The project is located close to the old and new neighbourhoods of Al Nahwa. The project includes an archeology centre that is being established by the Sharjah Archeology Authority, and has been supplied with a group of engraved rocks that abound in the area thousands of years ago.
The project, which was designed in a traditional style, includes squares for ceremonies and events, a theatre, and other facilities focused on showcasing the heritage of the area, and two mosques for men and women.
The Sharjah Archelogy Authority also supervises the preparation of mountain paths, so that visitors can reach the mountain peaks, where the ancient archaeological towers are located, and enjoy the atmosphere and the stunning views.
