Sharjah 24: Ahmed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Official of the Kalba Literary Council, confirmed that the increase of the Department of Culture (DoC) in the Eastern Region (ER) to its poetic programmes, comes with the aim of providing more opportunities for young talents to interact with famous poets, as well as promoting popular heritage.
In the presence of Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office Khorfakkan, and Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office Kalba, the DoC in the ER organised, on Thursday, a poetry and musical evening at the Cultural Centre in Kalba.
The evening was attended by His Excellency Khamis Al Suwaidi, Adviser in the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Kalba Municipal Council, Mohammed Al Suwaiji, Director of the Eastern Region’s Department of Culture, and a crowd of officials, intellectuals, and those interested in poetry and arts.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Zaabi said that the evening included a group of poets, as the poet Aida bin Masoud moderated the dialogue, and the poet Raad Al Shallal, the poet Dr. Diab bin Ghanem Al Mazrouei and the qanun player Nagham Al Dabal participated in it.
He added in statements to “Sharjah 24”, that the poetry evenings organised by the department receive the approval of the public in various cities of the Eastern Region, in addition to its role in enhancing the opportunities for young talents to interact with great poets.
