SDPW organises workshop on completion of SCHS’s buildings

Sharjah24: The Department of Branches in Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) organised a workshop on the lessons learned from the completion of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) buildings project in Khorfakkan, presented by the work team, representatives from SCHS and the strategic partners who contributed to the completion of this project.
Engineer Bashayer Al-Mansoori, director of the Kalba branch in the department, confirmed that the human element is the main force to reach the maximum possible successes, as every achievement the department achieve stems from the experiences of the talented and highly motivated cadres. 

The presenter of the workshop explained that the administration building includes administrative and secretarial offices, a meeting room and a prayer room with accompanying services, and the main lobby of the building includes a cafeteria, a theater, a library, an art room and a music room. The autism unit, which includes an observation room, a relaxation room, a kinesthetic perception room, a psychosocial office, a life skills room, an indoor games room, a family meeting room, a resource room, a supervisor’s room, a training kitchen, a reception and waiting room, and 6 classrooms in addition to the perceptual area.

There is also the early intervention center, which includes the family counseling room, the isolation room, the children’s bedroom, the psychological evaluation room, the psychologist’s room, the families’ interview rooms, the speech therapist’s room, meeting rooms, the doctor’s clinic with nursing rooms, a nursery class, a kindergarten class, and with the accompanying service rooms.

Specialists were also hired to select the project furniture for classrooms to suit its shape, size and color for students with disabilities in accordance with international standards.

During the workshop, the modern systems used in the project were reviewed, such as air conditioning, water supply, rain drainage, civil defense and information technology.

After the workshop ended, there was an introductory tour for the attendees of a number of the buildings and facilities, and the attendees praised the role of the department in preparing these buildings according to the highest international standards that contribute to providing a facilitating and accessible environment for the employees of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services.

The project was designed and implemented in accordance with international codes and requirements of accessibility standards. The design took into account the use of classrooms, labs, theater, gymnasium, production workshops, indoor and outdoor public places, and toilets to suit all students.
