Sharjah24: The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) issued a guideline for private schools operating in Sharjah during the recovery phase of the Covid-19 pandemic for the academic year 2022-2023 as a major step in confronting the impact of the Corona virus in the emirate's schools, stressing the necessity of applying instructions and preventive measures in order to ensure a safe environment for students.
The authority explained that the authority's supervisory teams carried out field visits before the start of the new year for schools to ensure the implementation of the precautionary measures announced by the concerned authorities in the country and contained in the guideline, stressing their keenness to implement the procedures, in order to preserve the safety of students.
The guidelines included various procedures related to the organization of classes, the distribution of students, entry and exit mechanisms, vaccination of educational, administrative and technical staff, and mechanisms for dealing with school buses and parents.
The guidelines obligates students over the age of 12, administrative and educational cadres and service providers to conduct a COVID-19 examination before actually enrolling in school, and obtain a negative examination result for no more than 96 hours (4 days) from the start of the first school day.
The authority confirmed the inability to attend school for those who did not complete the period of isolation and obtain a "certificate of ending isolation" directly from the health authority.
According to the guideline, all visitors to the school should show evidence of the validity of green pass in the “Al-Hosn” application for the purpose of entering the school campus, with the cancellation of the thermal examination for students and staff, provided that everyone who feels a high temperature is committed not to come to school and apply the precautionary measures.
The guideline called on students in the first grade and above, and school staff to wear masks in closed places throughout the school hours, and wearing them in open areas is optional and not mandatory, while those under 6 are not required to wear masks while following them and ensuring their commitment to hand washing and hygiene procedures.
The guideline allows the use of school buses with a capacity of 100%, where the category of students with high-risk diseases, the Covid-school team must identify the excluded from education and attendance learning from students with pathological conditions.
The Sharjah Private Education Authority stated that supervisory teams visit all private schools in the emirate, according to a prepared and approved plan to monitor schools' compliance with the schools' operational guidelines and the extent of their implementation of the operational plan.
The authority emphasised according to its guideline, of which private schools received a copy, stressed the need for no school to take decisions regarding the partial or total suspension of teaching and learning due to Covid-19 infections, except after referring to the authority and obtaining its approval according to clear terms and conditions.
