Sharjah Sports Council receives FIDE's President

During the meeting
Sharjah 24: Arkady Vladimirovich Dvorkovich (Russia), President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), and his assistant Konstantin Kiselev were received at the office of Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC).
The president's programme for the next phase of the federation's work was reviewed during the meeting, as he intends to run for the new term (2022-2026) in the general assembly that will be held in Chennai (India) on the side-lines of the World Olympic Games, which will take place from July 28 to August 10. 

Al Hazami expressed his admiration for the President of the Federation's intentions and activities in his programme.

During the visit, the President of the International Federation was accompanied by Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, President of the Arab Chess Federation, Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, and Arab Federation officials.

Dvorkovich commended the SSC's efforts in organising and hosting international competitions at all levels, as well as its support for chess both locally and globally. 

He also praised the excellent organisation of the Sharjah Masters International Chess Championship, which was completed at the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club with 61 international grandmasters and was jointly won by Uzbek Nodirbek Abdusattorov and Emirati Salem Abdulrahman.
