Sharjah 24: A high-ranking delegation from the Royal Omani Police (ROP) has visited the Khatm Milaha border port, where they were impressed by the modern customs services as well as the amenities provided to travelers arriving in or exiting the UAE.
The delegation spoke highly of the port’s readiness and its in-house developed customs monitoring and inspection systems being used to ensure the smooth flow of vehicle movement through the port.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Acting Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security; Mohammed Mir Abdul Rahman, Director of the Seaports and Customs Department at the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority; Mohamed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs, Chairman of the Organisational Committee of Ports and Border Points; and Ahmed bin Lahej Al Falasi, Acting Director General of the General Administration of Customs, received the ROP delegation at Khatm Milaha border port.

The Omani delegation was led by Brigadier Nasser bin Salem Al Hosani, Director General Communications at ROP, along with Brigadier General Saeed bin Khamis Al Ghaithi, Director General of Oman Customs, and a number of senior officials.

A meeting was held on the sideline of the visit during which the Emirati and Omani officials reviewed the latest development plans for the port, as well as its advanced infrastructure, smart systems, and state-of-the-art customs inspection equipment being used, in addition to its operational standards for security and safety.

Welcoming the Omani delegation to Khatm Milaha, Mohamed Ibrahim Al Raisi stressed that the meeting provided a platform for exploring avenues of cooperation with the Omani side and exchanging knowledge about the operation of border crossings.

"Khatm Milaha border port is one of the major land border crossings in the UAE, which in addition to hiring highly qualified cadres, makes use of the latest techniques, systems, and equipment, hence we are keen to share our expertise with the Omani counterpart," said Al Raisi.

During the visit, the Omani delegation toured Khatm Milaha border port, where they were briefed on the inspection procedures and technical operations carried out on the goods upon arrival at the port.

Concluding the visit, the sides exchanged memorial trophies. Al Raisi also presented copies of "The History of the Ya'ariba in Oman, 1623 AD-1747 AD" book by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to members of the ROP delegation.

The visiting delegation expressed their appreciation for the valuable gift, describing it as an important historical book as well as a cultural and intellectual reference on the history of the Arab nation.
