Sharjah 24: The Eastern Region Police Department (ERPD) organised a “Health Awareness Day” in cooperation with Khorfakkan Hospital and the Emirates Health Services (EHS), affiliated to the Ministry of Health.
This is based on the keenness of the Sharjah Police (SP) to support programmes aimed at the health and safety of employees and with the aim of raising the level of preventive awareness.

The health day programme included a number of different health and awareness activities, as well as an educational workshop held on the harms of smoking presented by Dr. Sami Ahmed Hassan Al Hajj from Khorfakkan Hospital.

He addressed a number of topics about the harms of smoking in general, the harms of electronic cigarettes in particular, and the dangers of smoking on the people.

In a related context, a comprehensive electronic periodic examination programme was organised, which the EHS supervised. The examination included a set of health activities represented in conducting early detection tests for chronic non-communicable diseases, carried out by conducting an initial questionnaire to read the patient's information and discover genetic diseases. In addition to other health examinations and tests.

Colonel Dr. Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, honoured the lecturers and specialists, and thanked the participating parties in appreciation of their cooperation in organising the activities of the Health Day.

He called on the participants to take advantage of the information presented and use it optimally to serve both the individual and societal sides, and emphasised the support of SP and its adoption of all community initiatives aimed at promoting positive behaviours and reducing practices harmful to health and safety in society in cooperation with various authorities.
