Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Sulaiman Sarhan Al Zaabi, Head of the Department of Municipal Affairs in Sharjah, praised the idea of the mango festival, which opened Friday in the city of Khorfakkan for the first time, considering such events an absolute necessity to stimulate and support the agricultural sector.

In statements to “Sharjah 24” on the sidelines of his attendance at the opening of the first edition of the mango festival in Khorfakkan, he said that such festivals have a prominent importance in supporting the food security system.
He stressed the need for government institutions to support farmers to continue their mission and role in enhancing agricultural wealth and thus supporting food security.
His Excellency valued the efforts of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council and the Khorfakkan Municipality in organising the festival, which also has a cultural and heritage dimension, as the fruits of mango or "hamba" are among the fruits firmly rooted in the UAE folklore.
