Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) organised an awareness campaign under the slogan "Prevention of drowning in swimming pools" during the period from 20 to 21 June at Al Thiqah clubs for the disabled, Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid and Mleiha.
The campaign included an explanation of the importance of the availability of safety standards in swimming pools, including the presence of panels showing the depth of the basin, the separation of swimming pools for children from adults, the presence of a fence to prevent children, ensuring the safety of devices and electrical connections, their safe isolation, the presence of a lifeguard on a permanent basis, ensuring the cleanliness of the pool water, the presence of a ladder on the sides and the availability of adequate lighting ensure the cleanliness of the water and purifiers.
Abdullah Al Ali, Director of Support Services Department, indicated that the campaign comes within the Sports Council’s keenness, through the Sports Facilities Follow-up Department, to emphasise the importance of adhering to the safety standards that must be provided in sports facilities, including sports pools in sports clubs in the emirate that contain swimming pools.
