Sharjah24: Preparations have been completed for the World Bicycle Day tour, which will be organised by the Sharjah Sports Council next Sunday (June 12th) on the Sharjah Corniche. The tour will be held as part of the council's community activities to support the culture of sport as a way of life for all segments of society, with the participation of about 1,000 riders of both sexes.

The tour for the three categories begins at 6am in front of the designated assembly point, where traffic will be closed on the Sharjah Corniche in its 9-kilometre back-and-forth path, he conditions of participation require that each participant bring his bicycle and commit to wearing a protective helmet, and not increase his speed during the tour, about 30 km per hour.

Yasser Al Doukhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Council, confirmed that the tour aims to revive the World Bicycle Day, which falls on June 3, and this celebratory tour will be held for the third time. It will be presented to the winners registered electronically at the end of the round, while it will be delivered to the participants remotely (for a distance of 30 km) at their addresses.

Al Doukhi added that the tour will be held in cooperation and partnership with a number of authorities and institutions, seeking to reap success and excellence in this event, in coordination and cooperation between the council’s work team, sports clubs, amateur teams and sports shops specialised in bicycles.
