Sharjah 24: The "Stop Violence" event, organised by the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), which came under the slogan "Towards a Professional Protection Specialist", was able to learn about some of the problems encountered by the institutions concerned with protecting children from abuse and violence.
The event saw elite group of participants, researchers and direct contacts with the child representing concerned federal and local institutions, in the educational, medical, psychological, security and social fields.
The event, which was held at the Sheraton Hotel - Sharjah, highlighted the basic role of the family in protecting the child in the first place, and then the role of the relevant institutions. The participants also touched on the need to activate the role of the specialist and periodically subjecting him to training courses to find out the latest developments in the field of protection, including the development of systems and procedures aimed at addressing violence and abuse, expertise in the humanitarian field, and knowledge of laws related to children’s rights, such as the Wadima Law, in addition to the need to develop academic programmes for those wishing to work in the field of child protection and care.
