Sharjah 24: The 22nd edition of the Sir Bu Nair Festival, organised by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, in cooperation with many government entities, started with a set of vital activities and events.
Her Excellency Hana Saif Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah, stated that the 22nd Sir Bu Nair Festival was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, which includes many special events and activities over two days.
Her Excellency added, in exclusive statements to “Sharjah 24”, that EPAA’s researchers are conducting many studies on the seasons of bird migration and tracking their migration paths, in addition to nesting sea turtles, and conducting extensive surveys in mountainous and marine areas and coral reefs, including the largest coral farm in the Arabian Gulf located in Sir Bu Nair Island.
Her Excellency confirmed that there is great environmental diversity on the island, which was approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as a nature reserve in 1999, who gave it legal protection to safeguard the island's biodiversity.
