Upon his arrival, Sheikh Sultan toured the exhibition accompanying the festival, learning about the various marine activities and crafts, and the activities offered by the participating parties that highlight their efforts to preserve biodiversity. Then the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah watched the festival activities, which started in the sea with a kayak race and a tug-of-war competition by boats, followed by a tug-of-war competition on the beach, along with a number of competitions witnessing great interaction among all the participating teams.
During the festival, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi released a group of sea turtles on the shore of Sir Bu Nair Island, after which the turtles reached the sea as an addition to the various species that live on the island and its sea in an environment rich in biodiversity that contributes to their reproduction.
At the end of the launch of the festival, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah honoured the supporting bodies and institutions, and took memorial photos with the honourees.
The festival stresses the importance of highlighting the environmental, tourism and cultural value and position of Sir Bu Nair Reserve, and consolidating the relationship of successive generations with their environment and heritage, in cooperation and coordination with strategic partners.
The partners include the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, Sharjah Institute for Heritage, Sharjah Sports Council, and Emirates Marine Environmental Group.
His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Her Excellency Hana Saif Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of Environment and Protected Areas Authority, His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and a number of officials and athletes attended the launch of the Sir Bu Nair Festival.
