Sharjah 24: Knowledge without Borders (KwB) held a session, on Tuesday, to discuss the book "The Boiled Frog" by Wahib Al Kamali, a researcher in self-development and human resource management, for employees of Sharjah government departments and members of the Friends of Reading Culture Club.
Mariam Al Hammadi, Manager of Knowledge without Borders (KwB), moderated the discussion at the Arabic Language Academy Library in Sharjah.
During the event, the author discussed the book's concept and noted that the title is based on the apologue, which describes a frog being slowly boiled alive. The concept is that if a frog is dropped into boiling water abruptly, it will jump out, but if the frog is dropped into tipped water and slowly brought to a boil, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death. People sometimes use the story as a metaphor for how people can't or won't react to or notice dangerous threats that come up slowly rather than all at once.
The author stated that governments and individuals must continually assess their strategies in order to stay up with global developments, and that the title of his book is meant to inspire people to be wary of incorrectly adjusting to and becoming accustomed to negative gradual changes.
The guest author talked about how important human resources are for making energy and improving production in a wide range of fields.
