The Chancellor of the University of Sharjah stated during his tour of the Open Day, that this event is considered a focal point between school students, their parents, and the university to present experiences, and educational possibilities to secondary school students, asserting that the university aims to attract highly qualified and distinguished students, to promote their cognitive and scientific orientation, through its colleges and new academic programs that are compatible with the requirements of the labor market. He also pointed that the university focuses on all aspects that serve student’s needs and refine their personality, through extracurricular activities conducted besides teaching, learning and scientific research. The Chancellor also indicated that the university is in the process of offering several new academic programs for the bachelor's and master's degrees.
From her side, Dr. Nadia Farhat, Director of the Marketing and Student Recruitment Department, stated that the Open Day attracted more than 2500 male and female student from 25 public and private schools, as well as a number of parents, hosted by colleges through pavilions designated to present their services and answer all inquiries raised.
While school students and faculty members praised the remarkable organization of the Open Day, pointing that it is a great opportunity to map out their university study journey across multiple scientific disciplines and educational fields at the university, stating that it suits their inclinations and future aspirations, as UOS always keen to provide all services and activities to its students, in accordance with high quality standards of teaching and learning, as it is one of the most prestigious and distinguished universities at the national level.
The opening was attended by Prof. Youssef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, Dr. Gordon Handke, Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Majid Al-Jarwan, Vice Chancellor for Public Relations. In addition to the attendance of a number of college deans, center and administrative directors, departments’ heads, faculty and administrative members.
