This came during the official visit, in the presence of the Chairman of the Khalidiya Suburb Council, His Excellency Khalfan Saeed Al Marri, accompanied by the Vice-President of the Council, Mohammed Rashid bin Jarash, and Imran Muhammad Al Hammadi, the Council's official, to the headquarters of the Punitive and Correctional Institution in Sharjah. They were received by Colonel Mona Sorour Al Shuwaihi, Deputy Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institution Department at Sharjah Police, Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Ghazal, Head of the Correction and Rehabilitation Department at the Punitive Institution, and Lt. Colonel Salem Al Ketbi, Director of the Men's Prison Branch, within the framework of Ramadan activities.
The initiative, carried out by the Khalidiya Council, is the first among the suburban councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, which is devoted to identifying the inmates of penal and correctional facilities, touching their needs and the needs of their families, and enabling them to return to their community.
During the meeting, a financial contribution of one hundred thousand dirhams was presented by the council, allocated to defaulting inmates and caring for the children of the inmates.
His Excellency Khalfan Saeed Al Marri revealed that the Council was keen to reach common recommendations and important decisions that achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, to establish suburban councils and activate their roles with other institutions and departments to serve the people of Sharjah.
Al Marri called on the suburban councils to take advantage of these initiatives and put them forward in a way that brings positivity to the inmates and their families.
It is noteworthy that at the end of the meeting, Al Marri thanked the Sharjah Police General Command and the Punitive and Correctional Institutions for receiving and offering aspects of cooperation and meeting with inmates, raising their morale and sharing their concerns.
