SMA announces museums’ Eid Al-Fitr working hours

Sharjah24: Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) has announced that its museums will be closed on the 29th and 30th of Ramadan, as well as on the first day of Eid.
Museums under SMA’s umbrella will resume work from 8am to 8pm from Saturday April 30th to Thursday May 5th and from 4pm to 8pm on Friday May 6, before they return to regular working hours on Monday May 9th.

Extending its best wishes and sincere greetings to the leadership and the people of the UAE, the Authority emphasized the importance of museums role in promoting the country’s rich history and heritage. 

It stressed that opening the doors of its museums during holidays is in line with its efforts to remain engaged with the community and provide them with opportunities to enjoy its offerings that are related to arts, history, and heritage, among other areas.  

Members of the public are invited to avail from the long break by visiting SMA’s museums and explore their collections and ongoing exhibitions, such as ‘Wonder and Inspiration: Venice and the Arts of Islam’ exhibition, which is held at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization to highlight the cultural exchange between the Islamic Civilization and Venice and runs until July 2nd.

Visitors can get to know the history of the country’s aviation at Al Mahatta which hosts “Sharjah, the First UAE Flying School” exhibition  until September 2nd. 

Families will also be able to spend quality time with their children at  “Deir El Medina : Village of the Pharaohs’ Artists” interactive exhibition at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum which is organized in cooperation with the Egyptian Museum in Turin, Italy and runs until August 31st. 

Art enthusiasts can enjoy works of the late Lebanese artist Aref El-Rayess at the Sharjah Art Museum in the artist’s first major institutional exhibition to date, and explore the Islamic civilization’s far-reaching influence by visiting Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization which hosts the 12th-century Maymūnah Stone which is being displayed for the first time ever outside of Malta. 

The Authority also invites UAE residents and visitors to explore Sharjah’s east coast, and visit its Hisn Khorfakkan and Resistance Monument.
