Sharjah 24: Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) revealed that it aims to implement more than 1000 trips to transport senior citizens and people with disabilities, as part of the “Meshwar” (trip) initiative, launched last February 2022, where the Elderly Care Home provides the service for active elderly people.
According to Kholoud Al Ali, director of the Elderly Care Home, the "Meshwar" initiative is a service provided to elderly citizens of the Emirate of Sharjah, to facilitate their transportation, to provide a healthy environment and to meet their daily needs, as well as visits and recreational trips.
The service includes a driver and a social worker. This innovative service contributes to the elderly enjoying a stable life and meets their aspirations on a daily basis, it includes all those registered with the active elderly services, especially those living alone.
Kholoud Al Ali pointed out that the elderly must be 60 years old or above, and the service is provided through the website www.sssd.shj.ae, the department's smart application available on Apple Store and Android, and the toll-free number 800700.
The request is carried out within 48 hours, by prior reservation during the official working days, and the beneficiary is required to perform a corona test 48 hours before the appointment. 16 cars will be available for the service, half of which follow the city of Sharjah and the other half are distributed among the SSSD branches.
