Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) organised a package of events with the participation of about 60 government, private and charitable agencies, on the occasion of Zayed Humanitarian Day, which marks the 19th of Ramadan each year, and coincides with the date of the departure of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Dubbed “Zayed Giving”, the initiative featured several activities emphasising the love of humanitarian work and helping the needy, as well as celebrating the late Sheikh Zayed, who is a world unique model in giving, humanity, love and charitable work.
On this occasion, Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Department of Community Cohesion, said that the SSSD has been organising this initiative for years, and this year, it saw to it that the initiative touches a common voluntary aspect among all parties in the Emirate to make room for participation to spread joy in the hearts of low-income groups and the needy. She added that SSSD is pleased with the turnout of 60 diverse parties.
Al Hammadi explained that the "Zayed Giving" initiative is divided into several categories including the distribution of Iftar and suhoor meals to workers, perfuming and fumigating mosques, distributing dates, organising various visits for senior citizens and the children's home of the SSSD, and distributing school bags for needy families, as well as visiting patients in hospitals in addition to other related activities in cooperation with other entities that distributed palm seedlings to marks Zayed Humanitarian Day.
She said that the solidarity with the initiative saw the generous participation of several government bodies, departments and institutions in different regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.
