Sharjah24: The Health Promotion Department (HPD) of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah recently organised an awareness campaign on the importance of reducing salt consumption, in planning to reduce the proportion of salt in bread, as part of the national strategic plan aimed at gradually reducing salt levels in food products.
The campaign included an educational session entitled (Hidden Salt) presented by Professor Areej Al-Saad, Vice President of the Friends of Health Society in the Kingdom of Bahrain and a clinical nutrition specialist.

Eman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Education Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, indicated that organising this campaign comes within the framework of the administration’s keenness to support the objectives of the strategic plan to reduce the proportion of salt in food in the Emirate of Sharjah by focusing on enhancing community awareness of the health risks resulting from excessive consumption.

Consumption of salt, encouraging them to reduce their consumption and take healthy actions in their food choices.

Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saif drew attention to the importance of the campaign, including its awareness-raising initiatives, which greatly contributed to educating community members about the sources of salt, and enhancing the behavior of individuals to reduce salt consumption and turn to other alternatives.
