Sharjah 24: His Excellency Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, approved the second version of the corporate governance policy that ensures the units’ compliance with regulations, legislation and regulatory laws at work, which support and achieve the objectives and strategy of the Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC), in the presence of Colonel Tariq Jassim Al Midfa, Director of Strategy and Performance Development and Captain Asmaa Ahmed Al Shehhi, Head of the Governance Department at SPGC.
Major General Saif Al Shamsi stressed the importance of supporting governance practices in the police and security work, as it is considered one of the components of security and policing work, and an institutional system, which contributes to achieving the objectives and long-term strategy of Sharjah Police, noting that Sharjah Police applies the governance policy to all fields, to ensure the progress of work in accordance with approved plans to achieve institutional sustainability

Major General Al Shamsi said that the corporate governance system supports decision makers to take decisions that considers the interests of all stakeholders, including employees, customers, partners, suppliers and society, through making all processes and procedures subject to the system of control, responsibility and accountability, in accordance with an environment characterised by transparency and effectiveness using all means of internal and external communication.


It is worth noting that SPGC has internal control tools that carry out periodic, scheduled and unscheduled audits and evaluations for all activities, and is periodically subject to external audits, whereas Sharjah Police General Command, during the last period, obtained the Governance Management specification BS13500:2013, the Risk Management specification ISO31000:2018, and the Business Continuity Management System specification ISO 22301:2019, in addition to the Asset and Property Management specification ISO55001:2014.
