Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah, SCFA’s Cultural and Media Office organised a virtual ceremony to honour the winners of the Gulf Women’s Creativity Award (GWCA) in its fourth edition, coinciding with International Women’s Day.
The ceremony included the screening of an introductory film, an intellectual meeting that included poetry readings, and an intellectual forum. In addition to announcing the names of the winners in the field of literature and arts.
Salha Ghabish opened the ceremony by stating her pleasure to convey to you the greetings of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, and Her Highness’s wishes for all success in carrying out the cultural message that promotes human thought.
She stressed that the SCFA’s Cultural and Media Office aspires to honour the winners to contribute to the service of human culture in a way that elevates the human being in the Arab region. She pointed out that this award came in order to achieve several goals focused around taking care of the creativity of Gulf women, and valuing their effective role.
The jury announced the winners of the award, which are Dr. Maryam Al Hashemi from the United Arab Emirates, and Dr. Haifa Othman Fada, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the field of literary studies. In the field of poetry, the poet Sheikha Al Mutairi won first place for her poetry collection. In the field of novels were withheld due to the low level of the submissions, despite the committee receiving 27 novels.
