Sharjah 24: The direction of the sunrise in the UAE coincides with the direction of the Qibla towards the Kaaba in Makkah from the date of February 17 to 25, where mosques can be built in the current period using the sunset to determine the Qibla.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society and Member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, confirmed that the direction of sunset coincides with the direction of the Qibla towards the Kaaba in Makkah twice a year, the first time occurring from 17 to 25 February, and the second time from 16 to 24 October.
Al Jarwan indicated, in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24", that the rest of the year in which the direction of sunset deviates from the Qibla towards the northwest and southwest, and this situation is considered to occur during these periods in the United Arab Emirates only.
Al Jarwan added that the direction of sunset on the Qibla occurs at different times for each country in the world, as the direction of the Qibla in the Levant is in the direction of the "Suhail star", while in Yemen, the direction of the Qibla is in the direction of the "Polaris star".
