Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr. Issa Al Hammadi, Chairman of Arabic Language Educational Centre for Gulf States (ALECGS) in Sharjah an affiliate of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States received Dr. Abdullah bin Saif Al Tobi, Director of the Centre for Translation, Arabisation and Arabic, in Sultanate of Oman, at the Centre’s headquarters in the University City in Sharjah.
The meeting comes within the framework of the ALECGS efforts to work on exchanging experiences and joint cooperation among all institutions working in the field of Arabic language.
Both sides discussed mechanisms of cooperation in developing Arabic language curricula. They also discussed ways of mutual coordination on any projects, activities, events or training courses, and proposing programmes, projects and activities that increase the effectiveness of promoting the development of Arabic language teaching, learning and protection. In addition to a proposal to sign a partnership agreement between the two sides in a way that serves and enhances the Arabic language.
During the joint meeting, both parties discussed ways of joint cooperation in the field of Arabic language education, developing Arabic language teaching and learning, and enhancing mutual benefit in serving the Arabic language in the light and framework of the Centre for Translation, Arabisation and Arabic work.
The meeting also included a tour of ALECGS facilities, including the centre's library, which includes nearly 4500 books in the field of curricula and methods of teaching Arabic. Both parties also visited the permanent exhibition of the Arabic language and the photo gallery in ALECGS.
The meeting included a presentation introducing ALECGS projects and programmes, and the most important publications and events that are implemented at the level of ALECGS member states.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged commemorative shields, and ALECGS presented several publications to the Director of the Centre for Translation, Arabisation and Arabic. These publications include recent studies in the development of Arabic language education implemented by the ALECGS at its headquarters in Sharjah.
Both sides extended appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, for his continuous and generous support for building minds, people, science, culture and the Arabic language, and providing all capabilities at the regional and international levels.
