Sharjah24: Lt. Col. Hani Rashid Al Dahmani, Head of Media and Public Relations at the Sharjah Civil Defense Department, affirmed the Civil Defense Department's keenness to raise preventive awareness among all segments of society, by developing comprehensive awareness plans and campaigns annually, covering all commercial, industrial and residential sectors. He highlighted the main goal of the campaigns is to raise preventive awareness among members of the community through the optimal use of heating devices in their homes, and to educate those who go to wilderness areas, to raise awareness of preventive and safety measures for winter tents.
This came during "Aman Ya Bladi" programme, prepared by the Media and Public Relations Department of the Sharjah Police, and presented by Major Ibrahim Al Midfa and Lieutenant Saud Busim, and broadcast live on Sharjah Radio, every Monday morning, to discuss a number of diverse topics.
Lieutenant-Colonel Hani Rashid Al-Dahmani explained the diversity of awareness campaigns, whether they were in the field, or campaigns through social media, and reached a large segment of individuals, including short film materials explaining the correct procedures for using heating devices in homes, in addition to real and virtual lectures and workshops that organised in various educational and governmental institutions, with the aim of raising awareness of the preventive measures to be followed in the winter season.
The programme included telephone interventions in which Colonel Sultan Al Shehhi, Director of the Civil Defense Department in the Eastern Region, spoke about the dangers that may arise when visiting valleys and water flow areas, and the safety requirements that must be met in valley streams, while Colonel Engineer Adel Ahmed Al Mazmi, Acting Head of the Criminal Laboratory in Sharjah Police, spoke on the efforts of the Sharjah Police forensic laboratory in revealing the circumstances of the various fires in the emirate, he also talked about fires in the winter season, and what are the most important causes of them, and ways to prevent them.
