Lieutenant-Colonel Amer Al Harmoudi, Director of the Special Rehabilitation Centre of Sharjah Police, pointed out the necessity of self education, and the importance of educating community members about the conditions of the addicted person, whereas they should be treated as patients who deserve treatment, and not criminals to be punished, and here lies the role of the private rehabilitation centre to intensify community efforts, in promoting awareness of addiction prevention, to ensure the provision of the necessary support to addicts.
