Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) reviews its strategy in the field of integrated management and the use of gray water. This came during the panel discussion organised by Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), entitled "Water Reuse Priorities", shedding light on the Authority's strategy in the field of water resource management and water use systems for domestic, industrial and commercial purposes, and the efforts made by the Authority to meet the demand for water in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Commenting on this, Engineer Essam Al Mulla, Director of the Water and Desalination Plants Department, spoke in his speech during the session about the strategy followed by the Authority to provide the Emirate of Sharjah with fresh water, underscoring the significance of this in ensuring sustainability and preserving the environment.
He also emphasised the importance of cooperation and coordination to benefit from the recycling of gray water and sewage water and use it to irrigate green spaces, buildings and chillers.
He called for the need to focus on investing sewage and gray water and not wasting it, emphasising the importance of water treatment to reuse it again for many purposes.
During the session, he touched on the concept of rationalising water consumption in the Emirate of Sharjah, which is adopted by the Authority, stressing on the Authority's strategy to rationalise water in the Emirate of Sharjah through various public awareness programs and regular rationalisation campaigns.
During the session, the Authority's programs in the use of wastewater and water recycling were compared with the programs implemented by the competent authorities in Switzerland.
Al Mulla stressed that the participation of a large number of experts, specialists and academics in the fields of energy and water in the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week contributed in exchanging experiences with the participating parties, discussing challenges and proposed solutions to regional water issues; providing a platform for exchanging opinions and experiences, as well as discussing ways to enhance water security.
