Sharjah 24: The final report of Sharjah Sports Council activities, last year, revealed the organisation of 1648 activities, in coordination between the Department of Sports and Community Events and the Emirate’s Clubs.
His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), expressed his happiness with the number and diversity of events, and said that the approach taken by the Department of Sports and Community Events translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, that sports should include all segments of society and all family members.

The Chairman of SSC praised the clubs’ interaction and response, stressing that the team spirit was present in the events organisation, which attracted large numbers of participants. He added that adapting to the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, opening the door for virtual participation, doubled number of participants, which helped spread the culture of practicing sports.

His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami thanked government entities, the supporting institutions, participants, and sports federations, stressing that they are essential partners in the success achieved in these diverse events.

Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events Department at SSC noted that 18 clubs in Sharjah organised 1620 events, and practically reinforced the concept of sports for all.

Al Doukhi concluded that SSC was keen to support national organising professionals, and expanded the circle of participation using the virtual world, which provided the opportunity for participation from outside the UAE. He added that SSC was keen to raise the efficiency of employees through various education and refinement courses, and the plan for the current year is to add more achievements.
