Sharjah24: Sharjah Municipality (SM) has announced the launch of to distribute firewood initiative for the fourth year, as one of the community environmental initiatives that it is keen to implement annually with the aim of providing tree trunks resulting from the maintenance and pruning of trees, and providing them to the citizens of the Emirate of Sharjah free of charge and benefiting from them with the beginning of the distinguished winter weather in which trips abound recreational for families in the wilderness areas.
Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Sharjah City, confirmed that the Municipal Council and the Municipality are keen to implement initiatives that delight community members and provide them with the best services. This initiative is one of the many distinguished initiatives that the municipality provides to citizens free of charge.
He explained that the initiative embodies the municipality’s role in preserving the environment and optimizing the use of remnants of trees that are pruned, as well as harmful trees that are removed, such as Damas and Al-Ghawyif, and exploit them in an optimal way, whether by distributing their trunks or recycling their waste such as leaves and others in the manufacture of natural fertilizers.
Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of the Municipality, stressed that this initiative reflects the municipality's keenness to achieve sustainability and care for and preserve the environment through the proper disposal of tree trunks resulting from the pruning and maintenance operations carried out by the municipality.
Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji stated that the municipality provided all the tools, equipment and work cadres necessary to implement this initiative, and receive citizens wishing to benefit from it, noting that obtaining tree trunks is according to a set of requirements, namely pre-booking through the municipality's communication channels, as well as showing the Emirates ID at the loading site, and the customer is allowed to carry only one load, and the vehicle should be a light “pickup” or a small trailer to benefit the largest possible number of citizens wishing to obtain tree trunks, and the customer is also responsible for providing the means of transportation, while the municipality is responsible for loading just.
He noted that the distribution starts from Tuesday, 21/12/2021, until the end of the quantity from 7am until 4pm, after the beneficiary communicates with the municipality through the WhatsApp platform on the number 065162455, and sends the required data, including a copy of ID and passport, then a date is set for him to go to receive the cargo.
