Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality has started a campaign to remove Mesquite trees from various areas of the city due to their negative impact on the infrastructure and surrounding plants, and to enhance the aesthetic appearance.
The SM began its campaign from the Al Sajaa Industrial, in the presence of Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of the SM, along with a group of officials.

Al Tunaiji stressed that this campaign reflects the Municipality's role in providing a healthy environment for the residents and enhancing the aesthetic appearance of Sharjah. These trees are classified as harmful and studies have shown that they cause skin and respiratory allergies, and are homes to harmful insects.

Al Tunaiji stated that these trees are used after being uprooted. They are distributed to citizens to use as firewood, as a part of "Your Wood is On Us" initiative, in winter.
