Sharjah24: Zayed University Council held its fourth and last meeting for the academic year 2021/2022, chaired by Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, President of Zayed University, at the VIP Hall in the UAE pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The meeting agenda focused on future-focused policies that aligned the academic agenda with the nation’s vision.
The meeting was attended by several notable members of the council and the University’s leadership. At the start of the meeting, Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi congratulated the attendees on the occasion of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee. She reiterated the importance of aligning the University’s agenda towards achieving the UAE’s integrated vision for an achievement-packed future that supports the nation’s leadership position amongst developed countries. Her Excellency acknowledged the sincere and continuous efforts of the University Council members in progressing the University’s rankings on the global stage. She referenced the Times Higher Education reports for the 2021-2022 academic year, which indicated that Zayed University rose to the top 601-800 scale globally from 801-1000 in 2020.
Al Kaabi and the members discussed the agenda topics associated with the new academic year, reviewed roles and responsibilities to enable the implementation of an integrated vision towards an impactful future over the next 50 years. They approved the implementation of a set of recommendations to further advance the University’s mark in the fields of innovation, scientific research, and advanced academic learning. This in turn will ensure the preparation of a new generation of graduates with academic excellence and leadership skills that are applicable in a highly dynamic and demanding job market. They also discussed a number of policies and procedures related to the Academic Affairs and the Strategy and Transformation Committees, and approved the budget for the upcoming year.
Following the meeting, the University Council members toured the U.A.E. pavilion and received an engaging briefing about the nation’s culture and heritage, and the UAE’s journey of transformation and achievements, displayed in the various sections and exhibitions of the pavilion.
The meeting was attended by members of the University Council; Her Excellency Sarah bint Youssef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Technology and Vice President of the University Council, His Excellency Humaid Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, Managing Director & Group CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), His Excellency Abdulnasser Alshaali, Assistant Minister for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Moza Ibrahim Mohammed Al Akraf Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Her Excellency Shatha Al Hashemi, Advisor, Executive Consulting Unit, Director General’s Office, Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Saeed Sultan Al Dhaheri, businessman, and Dr. Robert Whelan, Professor Emeritus and Expert in Strategic Planning, and His Excellency Hassan Al-Najjar, Founder and the CEO of InFocus Media Company.
