The fifth session of the Council held the meeting as part of its work for the third regular session of the tenth legislative term at its headquarters in Sharjah, headed by His Excellency Ali Mehd Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Consultative Council.
His Excellency Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary-General of the Council, said that Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, established by Decree-Law No. (5) of 2020, aims to achieve the development of business, services and infrastructure in seaports, customs centres, ports, border points and free zones of the authority; to regulate navigation operations, maritime transport activities; to support the national economy by regulating the import and export of goods, adopting the best customs practices in combating smuggling and limiting the circulation of controlled and regulated goods; and to create an attractive investment environment in the authority’s free zones in accordance with the best international standards.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Seaports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, praised the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting and enabling the Authority to exercise its roles in strengthening the local and national economy, encouraging and attracting investors and developing investment in various vital sectors.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi said that the target of Sharjah Seaports, Customs and Free Zones Authority is the development of the economic aspects of Sharjah through the development of infrastructure in the marine ports and centres of customs and border ports and free zones commensurate with the Authority's strategy in the development of import and export through sea ports and land border ports and provide an attractive investment environment for foreign capital as one of the most important vehicles of investment in the Middle East.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi confirmed that Sharjah Seaports, Customs and Free Zones Authority invested in infrastructure development and worked towards activating the border points in Al Madam and Dibba outlets border to enhance the two-way trade with the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to training management and attracting talent and expertise to continue the development of the administrative system
