Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday inaugurated Al Sidra Heritage Neighbourhood in Al Luluiya area in Khorfakkan, which included the restoration of the area under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
His Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Head of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, said in statements to “Sharjah 24” that the project to restore the old Luluiya area is being carried out in several stages.
He explained that the project, in its new form, is expected to contribute to the social, cultural and heritage movement in the entire eastern region, not only in Khorfakkan. It is in addition to the many heritage projects that preceded it, aimed at restoring and reviving the old areas of Khorfakkan, including the old wall, Souk Sharq, and Khorfakkan Fort.
At the conclusion of his statements, the head of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage noted that under the directives of His Highness the Ruler, many heritage and historical projects are being worked on in the city of Kalba as well, and in the near future a major heritage project will be launched in Dibba Al Hisn.
