On his arrival at the venue, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed was welcomed by notables and people, amidst the playing of various folk arts, after which he toured the neighbourhood consisting of citizens’ houses, including the houses of Mohammed bin Salem bin Abdullah Al Naqbi, Mohammed Rashid bin Saif Al Naqbi, Mohammed Rashid Al Othmani Al Naqbi, Rashid Ali Al Naour, and Mohammed Rashid Abdullah Al Naqbi, as well as "Khaled bin Al-Walid” heritage mosque and two majlises.
The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah listened to a detailed explanation from Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, about the history of the area and its heritage and culture that reflect the local environment of the residents and their most prominent contemporary conditions.
The name Sidra is associated with the Sidr tree, which is famous in the region and under which shade residents rest and carry out some light work, in addition to being an arena for celebrations and events.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed also familiarised himself with what the various sections of the houses which will be venues for holding heritage activities and events.
Al Sidra neighbourhood reflects the nature of the area, its geographical features and residents’ maritime, agricultural and grazing occupations. Its fertile land contributed to the cultivation of many trees such as palms, lemons, mangoes, Sidr, Ghaf, Samar and others.
