Sharjah 24: For the eleventh time in a row, the Sharjah Aquarium (SA) organised its annual environmental campaign "Marine Clean up" at Al Qasba, as part of the Sharjah Museums Authority's social responsibility initiative "Because We Care".
Rashid Al Shamsi, Curator of the Sharjah Aquarium (SA), announced that the SA organised for the eleventh time in a row, its annual environmental campaign "Marine Clean up" at Al Qasba in Sharjah, one of the most important destinations in the Emirate, after the success it achieved over the past years, which covered nearly ten bodies of water.

He added to “Sharjah 24”, that this campaign comes as part of the Sharjah Museums Authority's initiative for social responsibility "Because We Care", which seeks to target societal issues through the programmes it offers, with the aim of contributing to solving them and inventing exemplary solutions for them.

This year, the Al Qasba Canal in Sharjah was chosen for the campaign, as it is a vital area teeming with visitors and exposed to wrong human practices.

Al Shamsi pointed out that this campaign is being carried out with the participation of 32 volunteer divers, to clean the canal using exemplary methods that ensure the protection of the environment from the dangers of pollution.

The Curator of the SA added that the campaign is being held in cooperation with SA's main partners, which are Bee’ah, the Emirates Diving Centre and Sharjah Police, represented by the Maritime Rescue Unit and a number of others.
