Sharjah 24: The Scientific Committee of the ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies has announced the completion of the judging work for its fourth edition, after receiving more than sixty research papers. The names of the winners will be announced on the World Arabic Language Day, on December 18.
The $100,000 prize is awarded to four winners; two on the topic of modern grammar studies and the service of the Arabic language in the (linguistics) branch, and two on the axis of language dictionaries, translation, composition, or study in the (lexicographical) branch. The winner of the first place on both axes gets 30 thousand dollars, while the second place gets 20 thousand dollars.

Dr. Mohammed Safi Mustghanmi, Secretary General of Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah and Coordinator of the ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies, confirmed that the award receives great attention and follow-up from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Dr. Mustghanmi indicated that the cooperation between the Academy and ALECSO, represented by the Arabisation Coordination Office in Rabat, in establishing the award, yielded one of the most prominent linguistic awards at the international level. Every year, it attracts dozens of linguistic and lexical papers that researchers and scholars from all over the Arab and Islamic world are working on.

The ALECSO-Sharjah Award for Language and Lexical Studies seeks to support research and intellectual production in the field of linguistic and lexical studies, and to contribute to highlighting the cognitive aspects related to the Arabic language. It also aims to encourage researchers and those interested to direct their intellectual research activity to topics that concern the future of the Arabic language and its related sciences.
