Sharjah 24: The Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah organised, on Monday, a literary evening titled "Writing for the Child in a Transforming World", with the Egyptian writer Soraya Abd Al Badie, during which Mohamed Baba Hamed moderated the event.
This came in the presence of Dr. Omar Abdelaziz, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and those interested in children’s literature.
Mohamed Baba Hamed stated that the literature of children’s writing today raises several problems, including the relationship between creativity and education, the age of child, technology, values and the writer’s ability to write a text that communicate effectively to the child.
Soraya Abd Al Badi confirmed that writing for the child is a grave responsibility, and a sensitive task, given the many dangers that surround it, and addressed the issue of children’s literature with regard to the difference between entertainment and education.
The lecture concluded that the discourse directed at children in the Arab world in general, is still facing many challenges to reach its goals.
