Sharjah 24: As part of its activities in light of the International Day for Older Persons, the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) in Dibba Al Hisn organised a tourist entertainment programme for a number of senior citizens from the branches of the Eastern Region, represented by a flight on a helicopter in the sky of the city of Khorfakkan.
In cooperation with the General Directorate of Security Support represented by the Air Wing Department of the Ministry of Interior, SSSD’s Dibba Al Hisn Branch, organised a tourist entertainment programme for a number of senior citizens from the branches of the Eastern Region.
The event, which was held at the Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, included a flight on a helicopter of 15 members. They flew in the sky of Khorfakkan to explore its picturesque nature in air tours.
Basima Mohammed Al Naqbi, Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Protection in SSSD's branch in Dibba Al Hisn, said that the event coincides with the International Day for OIder Persons, and aimed to bring joy and pleasure to the hearts of the department's affiliates from the Khorfakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn branches.
In statements to “Sharjah 24”, she maintained that the event was held in the presence of a specialised medical staff to examine the participants and ensure their health before, during and after the flight.
Al Naqbi thanked the Air Wing Department of the Ministry of Interior for their cooperation and meeting the wishes of the elderly to fly in the sky of Khorfakkan, praising the Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club's hosting of the event, which concluded with honouring the participants and giving them souvenirs.
