Sharjah 24: In implementation of the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, Sharjah Municipality (SM) announced the start of a wide field campaign in various areas of the city to monitor and demolish abandoned houses that are in poor condition.
His Excellency Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah Municipality (SM) confirmed that SM formed a team from various sectors and departments concerned to implement the visions and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the follow-up of the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to solve the problem of abandoned buildings in the city of Sharjah.
His Excellency highlighted that SM monitored the abandoned buildings, inspected them, studied their conditions, and decided on the necessary measures taken towards them.
His Excellency stated that there are security and health risks arising from the abandoned buildings, including their transformation into random housing for violators of residency affairs, which are open to crimes of all kinds.
His Excellency pointed out that SM is working within a joint government work system by cooperating with the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures against abandoned buildings, speeding up the pace of work and simplifying the procedures.
His Excellency added that since the beginning of this year, SM has demolished 11 abandoned buildings, and there are measures being taken in dealing with abandoned buildings, where an integrated committee is formed by the departments and concerned authorities to implement the required and necessary action, each according to its competence.
His Excellency noted that SM's call centre on the number 993 receives all comments and inquiries from the public around the clock, as SM welcomes all calls and deals with them immediately.
