Sharjah 24: Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), the Sixth UAE Women Writers Forum (UAE WWF) was launched, which will run from 12-15 September with the attendance of the Sultanate of Oman's honouree, novelist Bushra Khalfan, as well as 26 female writers, critics, poets, and novelists.
The forum will include a number of literary sessions and poetry evenings over the course of four days, enriching the literary scene with new ideas and recommendations, as well as shedding light on literary works and literary critique experiences. Some sessions take place virtually through Zoom, while others are face to face sessions.
Salha Obaid Ghabish, Chairperosn of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs' Cultural and Media Office, said in the forum’s opening: “The Cultural and Media Office pays more attention to Emirati women's creativity, thanks to the generous patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, because this achieves integration with national cultural institutions in the United Arab Emirates and reflects the Emirate of Sharjah's interest in everything related to concept of culture and its diverse manifestations in everyday life.”
The first session of the forum focused on the role of women in the Emirati cultural scene and in literary criticism, with Emirati poets hosting a poetry evening titled "She and the poem”.
