Sharjah 24: On Sunday, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport Sharjah Branch (AASTS) announced that all returning and new students of the College of Maritime Transport will resume face-to-face studies, taking all necessary precautions to avoid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting at 6:00 AM, "Sharjah 24" watched the first day of classes for the students.
According to Dr. Capt. Ahmed Youssef, Associate Dean, 130 male and female students cleared the medical exams and were accepted into the college's fifth batch. There have been 293 male and female students in the Sharjah branch, with female students making up about 45 percent of the total.
Dr. Capt. Ahmed Youssef added that the nature of the study in the college necessitates face-to-face study because the college relies on the practical aspect first and foremost, as it is required to study courses in the marine engineering and marine navigation departments in the classrooms and laboratories that were equipped prior to the start of the study for this year.
The Associate Dean revealed that development operations at the academy's branch in Khorfakkan are continuing, with work underway to establish a simulator headquarters and supply maritime safety training equipment that meets the highest standards, as well as the opening of the academy's second college, the College of International Transport and Logistics, next year.
