Norwegian equestrian wins Sharjah Int’l Show Jumping Championship

Sharjah24: The two-star Sharjah International Show Jumping Championship (SISJC), which has been held for the first time under covered venues this summer, was won by Norwegian rider Anita Sandy.
The Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club (SERC) organized the championship in collaboration with the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation, with Longines, the championship's official sponsor, and the Sharjah Sports Council as sponsors.

In six two-star events and two one-star competitions for small jumping horses aged two to six years, 106 men and female riders from 16 countries competed for prizes totaling (240) thousand dirhams, accompanied by 106 horses.

The Equestrian Federation created a summer show jumping season in air-conditioned covered areas which ran from the first week of June to the first week of August.

Commenting on this, Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri, Secretary-General of the Equestrian Federation, and Sultan Al Yahyai, Member of the Sharjah Sports Council and Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, presented the winners with their trophies. 

“The fruitful cooperation between the Equestrian Federation and the Equestrian Clubs, in coordination with the Sharjah Equestrian Club and the Emirates Heritage Club, and as a result of the availability of administrative and technical capabilities, which heralds a promising future for equestrian acclaim,” the General Secretary of the Equestrian Federation said at the conclusion of the crowning ceremony.

Sultan Al Yahyai, Race Director, thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for his generosity in directing the development of such a sports edifice to host equestrian competitions, the Equestrian Federation, Longines for their support and sponsorship, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council for providing the facilities.
