Sharjah 24: The Arab Theatre Institute (ATI) has completed the development of theatre curriculum in UAE schools, from 1st grade to 12th grade, collaborated with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Emirates Schools Establishment.
The development process focuses on enriching the curriculum with Emirati and Arab theatrical content, by including texts, works, and biographies of Emirati and Arab works as well as international innovators and using technology and artificial intelligence. This will link the cultural and civilisational heritage with modern developments.
Carried out by the ATI, the practical workshops come under the guidance and patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Membe, Ruler of Sharjah and President of the ATI. His Highness provided all the necessary support to launch this project in the Arab world.
The ATI and the MoE have a cooperation agreement that includes development, training, and follow-up of the curriculum. They organised several courses of curriculum development with the participation of teachers of theatre curriculum.
According to Ismail Abdullah, Secretary General of the ATI, the ATI is now working on the first remote training programme as a part of its strategic programme in theatre curriculum development, which led many Arab countries to work on including the theatre curriculum in their schools.
