‘Sharjah Youth’ sharpens youth skills through ‘Let’s Summer’

Sharjah Youth embarks on thrilling adventure camp in Malaysia

Sharjah 24: “Sharjah Youth” under “Rubu’ Qarn” Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators offers many virtual workshops and programmes in space rockets, sustainability and arts within “Let’s Summer” Camp, a summer experience to refresh the youth’s skills.
Space Rockets Workshop 
In collaboration with Sharjah Academy of Astronomy, Space sciences & Technology (SAASST), a program titled as “Space Rockets“ was delivered by Marwan Shwaiki, Director of the Planetarium & Community Outreach Affairs in SAASST and Amr Al Ansary, a Scientific Guide. 

In the programme, participants have learnt the main concepts revolving around the topic of space rockets including the internal structure and parts, types, strength, projectiles, how rockets function and how to launch it. 

Participants had the chance to create their own virtual space station and simulate the procedure of launching a space rocket from it. They have also discovered the different type of rockets that can be used depending on certain aspects (distance, weight, height, number of engines and fuel amount).

“Shurooq” and Sustainability Discussion Session 
A discussion session was conducted in collaboration with Yousif Al Mutawa, CEO of Sharjah Sustainable City, one of the main projects under Sharjah Investment and Development Authority “Shurooq” to underline and emphasise the importance of participants roles in promoting the concept of sustainability in Sharjah.

During the session, Yousif Al Mutawa talked about the main initiatives plus the regional and global projects under Sharjah Investment and Development Authority “Shurooq”. The Sharjah Sustainable City, which is considered as a residential project that meets international renewable energy standards, provides investment opportunities and encourages individuals to adopt a sustainable lifestyle in correlation with the future needs.

Colorful Arts Workshop 
A workshop delivered by the Emirati artist Dr. Najat Al Makki for all art lovers. Participants had the chance to learn how to paint and decorate their own stretched canvas using colourful inks and creative painting techniques using simple tools like brushes and cotton balls.

Animated Greeting Card Design Workshop 
The “Animated Greeting Card Design” workshop was delivered by the Emirati artist Aysha Al Hemrani to teach participants how to create their own creative animated greeting card simply using their smart devices and with the “Onion Skinning” technique which uses a 2D approach to create animated cartoons in “ProCreate” application so they can share it with their loved ones and in social media.

More than 700 participants took part in the “Let’s Summer” camp during the first week. The virtual camp is sponsored by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority “The Official Media Sponsor”.

The registrations for the second part of the camp (from August 1 to August 11, 2021) are still open.
