Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) is ready to provide all types of relief to refugees around the world as part of its effective role in assisting people in overcoming crises and adversities, as well as assisting governments in overcoming the impacts of wars and disasters.
According to a report released by the Charity recently on its assistance to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon, as well as families residing in the UAE and those listed in the records of needy families, the total aid provided during the period from 2012 to the beginning of this year amounted to about AED24.1 million.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, Director of Sharjah Charity International's (SCI) Projects Department, said that, in the ten years since the start of the Syrian crisis, the Charity has provided urgent relief and assistance to refugees totalling AED24.1 million, which has helped provide food and clothing to poor and needy families, in addition to treating many cases that require medical and surgical intervention, emphasising the necessity of the UAE's great efforts to disseminate the culture of philanthropic and humanitarian work around the world and establish the UAE as the world's greatest humanitarian aid contributor.
Al Zari thanked donors for their support of the Sharjah Charity International and other charitable organisations, as well as officials from the UAE embassies in Cairo, Beirut, and Amman for their excellent cooperation and support of delegations on field visits to implement relief programmes and projects.
