Sharjah 24: Sharjah Municipality (SM) has praised the owners' response and cooperation with the “Preventive Maintenance for Buildings ” campaign, which it began implementing since the end of April, to monitor all distortions in the general appearance related to building cleanliness and some other service abuses.
The campaign aims to educate their owners of the need to take the necessary corrective measures and take positive steps contributing to enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the Emirate of Sharjah and providing comfort to its residents.
His Excellency Thabet Al Tarifi, Director General of the Sharjah Municipality (SM) stated that the campaign began to achieve tangible positive results after a large number of owners responded to it and contributed to achieving its goals.
His Excellency added the campaign came after SM detected violations in some areas, to which SM formed a working group from various sectors and departments, in cooperation with the Sharjah Directorate of Public Works and the Sharjah Police General Command to implement the campaign.
His Excellency pointed out that there is fruitful cooperation with strategic partners and owners to continue the success of the campaign on a large scale in all areas of the city of Sharjah.
His Excellency highlighted SM’s keenness to educate owners about some of the distortions that were detected, to which they showed cooperation and willingness to make the necessary permits and start amending them in accordance with the approved requirements.
For his part, Eng. Khalifa bin Hada Al Suwaidi, Assistant Director General of the Engineering and Buildings Sector, revealed that about 1594 buildings were inspected in Muwailih Commercial Area, of which 453 are in need of maintenance. The owners have been notified to carry out the necessary preventive maintenance and adjust their conditions, and the inspection teams during the campaign monitored about 97 land areas containing buildings under construction, including 9 abandoned buildings, to which the necessary measures have been taken by the municipality.
Eng. Khalifa bin Hada Al Suwaidi noted that the campaign continues to cover all areas of the city of Sharjah according to a timetable set by the municipality to list all buildings, monitor violations and notify their owners to take the necessary action in terms of cleaning and preventive maintenance and remove any service violations.
