Sharjah 24: Nujoom Alghanem, Emirati Director and Artist, expressed happiness and pride in the holding of her exhibition “Malamih” for the first time in the Emirate of Sharjah and in the UAE, pointing out that the exhibition includes around 2000 faces.
On the sidelines of "Malamih" exhibition being hosted by Maraya Art Centre, which is part of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), at Al Qasba in the Emirate of Sharjah, Alghanem indicated her joy in the event, maintaining that the exhibition occupies three levels of the centre and includes around 2000 faces divided on a number of sections. The faces are created within the “Passage” project that was presented in the city of Venice in Italy in 2019.
In statements to “Sharjah 24”, Alghanem added that this exhibition is presented for the first time in the United Arab Emirates, highlighting her pride in exhibiting her works in the Emirate of Sharjah, the capital of culture and books. The pieces are produced from several materials, including burlap, clay, glass, and many others.
Alghanem concluded her statement by stressing that the exhibition was named “Malamih”, the Arabic word for features, as it is based on the human form, face, emotion and expression.
