Sharjah 24: Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, in cooperation with the Sharjah Social Services Department, organised an awareness workshop titled “Risk Management in Events” at the club’s library, with the participation of club members and those interested in event organisation.

The workshop aimed to enhance safety and prevention awareness across the club’s sports programmes and activities, while highlighting the importance of advance planning and systematic risk management to ensure safe and well-organised events.

Dr Adel Abdullah Abdul Rahim from the Sharjah Volunteer Centre led the workshop, introducing the concept and importance of risk management and practical methods for identifying hazards, addressing them and tackling their causes before they escalate into crises.

The workshop also covered key types of potential event risks, including human, psychological and chemical risks, stressing the importance of early preparedness, preventive measures and response plans to ensure the safety of participants and organisers.

Participants engaged in discussions on various risk-management scenarios and experiences, exchanging ideas and suggestions that reinforced the importance of prevention, proactive planning and coordinated efforts in organising safe sports and community events.

Salem Mohammed bin Huwaiden, Chairman of Al Dhaid Sports Club, said the club prioritises developing its members’ capabilities and readiness in areas related to sports and community work. He noted that cooperation with the Sharjah Social Services Department reflects the club’s commitment to building effective partnerships that contribute to developing its programmes and raising awareness among its members.

He added that promoting a culture of risk management and prevention is essential to the success of events, stressing the club’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of organisation and safety across its programmes and activities in support of the community and sports and volunteer work in Sharjah.
