At the heart of economic empowerment
Sponsorship projects form one of the main pillars of the Foundation's economic empowerment programme. They provide steady financial support tailored to each family's actual circumstances, helping them meet everyday obligations and gradually move from a state of need towards stability and self-reliance. Regular monthly contributions from community members keep this support growing and sustainable, allowing the Foundation to plan its services and carry out empowerment initiatives efficiently.
Mona bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, said the Foundation follows Sharjah's approach of placing human development and quality of life at the top of its priorities. "Sponsorship projects represent a sustainable path for supporting the stability of our members and their families and for accompanying them through the different stages of empowerment," she said.
She added that steady monthly contributions from sponsors help sustain and grow this support and strengthen the Foundation's ability to direct resources according to families' actual needs, which in turn improves their quality of life and stability.
Projects tailored to different needs
The Foundation's flagship sponsorship project "Orphan Sponsor" — provides continuous financial support for children, following their needs through the different stages of their lives until they reach empowerment. The project recorded 124 new sponsorships in the first half of 2026, bringing the total to 1,902 sponsorships backed by 1,157 sponsors.
"Educate with the Pen" supports children's education, helping them complete their studies and overcome challenges that could affect their academic performance, boosting their chances of excelling and continuing their academic and professional paths. The project gained 305 new contributions in the first half of the year, taking the total number of educational contributions to 1,842 from 948 contributors.
"Family Sponsor" strengthens the living stability of families who have lost their fathers, helping them meet basic needs in ways that support family cohesion and children's stability. The project recorded 107 new sponsorships in the first half of 2026, bringing the total to 710 sponsorships from 518 sponsors.
"Relief" or "restitution" responds to financial needs and obligations that may affect a family's stability, helping to address emergencies and ease living pressures so families can regain their balance and continue their empowerment journey. The project has recorded 484 sponsorships in total, from 68 sponsors.
The Neighbours of the Prophet endowment adds to the sustainability of the support system by directing its returns towards members' needs across all areas. The endowment recorded 225 new endowment contributions in the first half of 2026, bringing the total to 944 contributions from 541 contributors.
Institutional management
The Foundation manages donations and community contributions through a methodology built on studying members' needs, classifying resources according to their designated purposes, and directing each contribution to its specific track. Governance and financial audit systems support the efficient management of resources, reinforcing transparency, preserving the sustainability of support, and ensuring that entitlements reach beneficiaries on time.
The Foundation is working to expand its base of sponsors and contributors and encourage more regular contributions, ensuring the continuity of sponsorship projects and their ability to respond to members' evolving needs. These contributions are channelled through carefully planned empowerment strategies for each family, aimed at easing living burdens, sustaining children's education, and reinforcing the stability that paves the way towards self-reliance.
